11-23-20 THOUGHTS

I’m thinking of the sweet word “SAFE” this morning.  The safety of which I think is not physical, but spiritual.  Yet we only understand in physical pictures.  We know safety because we have been safe, or are safe.   Moses is blessing the children of Israel just before his death in the verse below.
Deut 33:12    Of Benjamin he said, "May the beloved of the LORD dwell in security by Him, Who shields him all the day, And he dwells between His shoulders."
The last is a picture of a father bearing his child on his shoulders.
Prov 18:10   The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.
Prov 29:25   The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted.
Fear is similar to Jesus’ discussion about anxiety in Matt 6:25-34.  The heart must think safety or there can be no safety.  Worry is to be cast upon the Lord.  The word TRUST is key!

1Thes 5:1-11   Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. 2  For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 3  While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape. 4  But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; 5
for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; 6  so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober. 7  For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. 8  But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. 9  For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10  who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him.  11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.
I titled a sermon years ago,  IS IT SAFE TO DIE?   The answer is so simple...
ARE YOU IN CHRIST JESUS?  As the old song goes,
ARE YOU WASHED IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB?
TODAY, be thankful for the SAFETY YOU KNOW IN CHRIST JESUS!

My Prayer:
Oh God, in a world of chaos, we thank you for order, and the peace that passes understanding.  We thank you for safety in Jesus, and for the hope that means so much to us. Help us in these times to be  alert and sober.  Whether awake or asleep, may we live together in Jesus.  We praise you for being the God of our salvation.            In the name of Jesus       Amen
